26.Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Rom8:26).
Without the help of the Holy Spirit prayer is impossible! Without the help of the Holy Spirit prayer is an unbearable burden to a believer. Prayer is not of flesh and blood , it’s of the Spirit.
We are all weak when it comes to prayer. Imagine even the sinless, Spirit-born, heaven -bound Son of God when He was in the flesh He could not afford to go for 40 days of prayer and fasting until He was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luk4:1)!! When He was full of the Holy Spirit, He led Him into prayer and fasting.
The disciples of Jesus walked with Him for three years, they watched him pray, they saw him transfigured on the mount while praying, he taught them how to pray, but after all these glorious experiences still they could not pray even for one hour (Mtt26:40)!
When Jesus was about to go to heaven He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem until they receive the power from heaven Luk24:49, because He had told them that it was for their advantage that he go away and then the helper come…(Jn16:7)!
They needed the helper (The Holy Spirit) to fill their lives and help them live the heavenly life on earth. They waited in the upper room until they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
After being filled with the Holy Spirit this is what we read, “… Peter and John went up together at the hour of prayer…” (Act3:1), again, ” but we will give ourselves continually to prayer…” (Act6:4)!
When the disciples of Jesus got filled with the Holy Spirit, they began to pray and nothing could stop them!!
You need the power of the Holy Spirit within you to produce mighty unstoppable prayers out of your life.
Are you filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph5:18)?!!!!!
