2. looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb12:2)
The author of the book of Hebrews was written to the Jewish Believers who were experiencing great trials and persecutions from their unbelieving Jewish counterparts. They were despairing because of the hardships and were thinking of abandoning their faith in Christ and drifting back into judaism.
The author of this book laboured painfully to paint the picture of Christ beautifully and clearly to these dear saints proving to them that there’s no way they could leave Christ and return to the jewish religions. He clearly showed to them through the whole Bible that Jesus Christ is the better sacrifice, better high priest who entered the better heavenly Tabernacle with His own blood and enacted a better covenant by His blood. The death of Christ on the cross and His resurrection has brought to all humanity better faith, better hope, better covenant, better life, better joy, better peace, better promises, better … Better… Better things!!!!
Therefore as Christians we need to turn away from every sins and unnecessarily weights and fix our eyes steadfastly on Jesus Christ who died and rose from the dead if we want to enjoy the better things of God.
The death of Christ on the cross and His resurrection are the source of all better things from God in both this life and the life to come. 😀
All the beauties and wonders of heaven, all the joys and glories of heaven, all the riches and treasures of eternity has the great God unleashed them upon humanity graciously through the death of Christ His Son when He hanged on the cross.
All the enemies of God and humanity were judged, destroyed and rendered powerless through the death of Christ on the cross!
Our eyes must forever be glued on to the Christ crucified and Christ resurrected!!
Dear beloved, i don’t know what kind of hell you are going through. I don’t know what kind of hardship, pain, depression, trials , losses, disappointments , setbacks, failures you are experiencing… But i come today to you and ask you to turn to the cross. Turn away from all the wrong things you have been running after for solution! All the answers you are looking for are in the cross and His resurrection… Therefore in all things you are going through fix your gaze unto Jesus Christ who died on the cross for you and rose again from the dead! You will smile again..
