Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
18. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit (Jam5:17-18) .
There are no supermen or submen, we are all men. All men are equal but what you do is what makes the difference. Its what you do that makes you distinguished. Somebody said that if you say nothing or do nothing or be nothing then nobody will say anything about you or against you.
The scripture says Elijah was a man like us. This was James teaching the believers of his time the power of prayer and what they can accomplish when they pray and he gave them the example of Elijah.
All Jews knew the historical accounts of the mighty exploits of Elijah’s prayer life. He prayed and fire fell from heaven, stopped the rain , and prayed again and rain fell.
James could imagine what his Church thought about Elijah. They thought Elijah was not an ordinary man like anyone of them. They thought Elijah was a special person. They thought Elijah was a super man, more than other common men.
The truth was Elijah was a very common man like any other man on earth, the only difference was that God called him, God anointed but most importantly Elijah knew the power of prayer and therefore prayed with all his heart. Elijah prayed because he believed in God who answers prayer and every time he prayed God answered his prayers by miracles, signs and wonders.
This means you and me can also have faith and pray and God will do supernatural wonders and signs!
If we choose not to pray God will not work in our circumstances but if we choose to pray God will intervene in our situations with miracles, signs and wonders.
Let’s pray that God will intervene in the global confusion and terror we are in right now. God bless you as you pray…. You prayer counts in God’s eyes!
